With the recent announcement of her appointment, the newest member of the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce has lots to prepare for.
Corla Rokochy, the incoming CEO of the Swift Current & District Chamber of Commerce, is already getting excited to learn from her predecessor, Karla Wiens.
"I spoke with Karla originally and I said that there were some very big shoes to fill," said Rokochy. "Her reply was that it's a very healthy organization and she was very proud of the work that she's done for seven years. She's leaving it in a great space and she's as excited as I am to take over the position."
Her prior professional experience is something that she, and the board of directors at the Chamber, feel will help in acclimating to the job.
"I've always been involved with the business side of Swift Current and supporting local businesses," said Rokochy. "Everything that I've done, whether it's at the museum or through the wedding show that I used to put on, I was doing those things to promote local businesses and be a connector between businesses and the community."
Rokochy has lived in Swift Current for 21 years. Over those two decades, she has become ingrained in the community, growing to love Swift Current as a home.
"I've always wanted to really be a strong advocate for local businesses and do what I can to keep the Swift Current business scene strong and growing."
Once she begins onboarding with the team in the new year, they will help Rokochy tackle the skills, methods, and insights needed to continue prospering at the Chamber.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Karla and Heidi to learn the ins and outs of the Chamber," said Rokochy. "The board is amazing and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone there and learning about how they support the position."
