One month ago, SaskPower was fined $840 000 regarding the death of Weyburn workers in October of 2020. The two 19-year journeypersons, Scott Bill and Cole Crooks, fell to their deaths while working in the city due to a faulty bucket truck and failure to enforce the use of safety harnesses. SaskPower was found guilty of three charges related to workplace safety violations.
SaskPower has now filed an appeal to the charges confirmed in a statement sent by the corporation.
“This does not diminish the great loss of Scott Bill and Cole Crooks, who were valued members of our SaskPower family. Their loss continues to be felt by us all, and our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of these two employees.”
They continue “The safety of our employees, contractors and the public is SaskPower’s highest priority and we strive to continuously improve safety.”
