WESK stands for Women Entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan, and the organization is getting set to host a WESK Connect event in Watson on November 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. It takes place at 106 Highway 6 south in Watson, a large grey building. The meet and greet event involves a panel discussion and networking among regional women business leaders and those who are considering an entrepreneurial entry.
“I’m honoured that WESK has launched their new program Rural WESK Connect here in Watson," says Faith Buhs, WESK rural ambassador for the region. “It recognizes that there’s more to Saskatchewan life than just Regina and Saskatoon – there's us rural people. I was one of six ladies to be picked to bring WESK out to rural Saskatchewan.”
Buhs says the inaugural event will start with networking among the attendees, and the evening then goes into a panel of local women entrepreneurs with some new business ventures and some that are more well-established.
Presenters include Virginia Bells and Charmaine Baril of the newly opened Revive Spin Studio in Humboldt, Collen Haussecker of Watson’s Splendor Garden, Marea Olafson of Freba Pottery.
“They’re going to go in and talk about their entrepreneur life, what WESK has done for them, and what they fell women need to know in business. Because we’re not along out there – there are more of us out in rural Saskatchewan.”
The event is open to the public. Attendees are asked to pre-register by heading to the event page on the WESK website. Buhs says even if you are unable to register ahead of time, feel free to attend.
The event is sponsored by BHP. It’s a great opportunity for women entrepreneurs in the region to make new connection and find out about programs that can have a definite impact on the business.
