Another snowfall warning is in effect for Weyburn and much of the province. This is a week after the first snowfall warning of the season was issued for Weyburn.
Environment Canada is calling for upwards of 25 centimetres of snow to fall in some areas. The forecast for Weyburn as of 8:30 a.m. was for the snow to start in the afternoon, and to intensify overnight with winds from the east gusting up to 50 kilometres an hour. Light snow is expected to linger into Sunday with the winds picking up again, gusting up to 50 km/h from the northwest.
The snow is coming from a low-pressure system moving up from Montana. It will start on the western edge of the province this morning, and move to the east throughout the day.
While most of the province will see the snow start to taper off overnight and early Sunday, some regions to the north of Weyburn, such as the east-central part of the province, will likely see heavy snow linger into Sunday night.
Environment Canada is advising the snow will accumulate rapidly, which could make travel difficult in some areas. The snow, along with the wind, is also expected to reduce visibility at times.
