Kirk Muyres and Laura Walker continued their quest in Curling Mixed Doubles as they competed in the Curling Canada Mixed Doubles Trials Qualifier in Guelph.

The duo started off on the wrong foot, as they were defeated 8-5 in their first matchup to William Lyburn and Mikaylah Lyburn.

Following their first loss on Thursday, Muyres/Walker went on a streak, picking up wins in their next five matchups.

They beat Jerry Butler and Michelle Butler 6-4, and that was followed up by a 5-3 win over Jim Cotter and Jaelyn Cotter.

On Saturday, the Muyres and Walker pair rattled off two more wins, an 8-7 decision over Rylan Kleiter and Brittany Tran and a 9-5 victory over Samuel Steep and Terri Weeks.

In the Championship round on Sunday, Muyres and Walker were able to redeem their first loss of the tournament, as they defeated the Lyburn pair 7-6, with Muyres and Walker scoring three in the 8th end.

But the pursuit for the championship came to an end in the semifinals as they were defeated 6-2 by Shane Konings and Lauren Wasylkiw.

Konings and Wasylkiw would go on to lose to Brendan Bottcher and Rachel Homan in the final.

Next up for the Muyres and Walker duo is the Curling Canada Mixed Doubles Trials Qualifier in Banff, Alberta from Dec.5-8.
