At its latest council meeting, Chinook's Edge Board of Trustees hear reports on their financial statements and Annual Education Results Report.

The Board accepted the financial figures that Treasurer Nadeem Altaf provided for the fiscal year that concluded on August 31, 2024. Both community members on the Board's audit committee and independent auditors from MNP attended the Board meeting.

"The division received $139,232,915 in revenue, while its expenses were $138,280,314 for the 2023-24 school year," stated Chinook's Edge.

The reserves for the division, as of August 31, were $3.6 million in operations and $1.5 million in capital.

"Superintendent Kurt Sacher and the Board of Trustees thanked Treasurer Altaf and the Financial Services team for their work and expertise throughout the year, which resulted in a successful audit."

Rocky View School recently reported a financial surplus of approximately $500,000.

The revenue increase was primarily driven by additional funding from the provincial government for instructional, transportation, and supplemental growth due to increased student enrollment. With final revenues totalling $314.7 million and expenses at $314.2 million, RVS ended the year with a small surplus.

Chinook's Edge Trustees approved the Annual Education Results Report for the 2023-24 school year. The report summarizes achievements of the last year and efforts it will make moving forward.

"Karyn Barber, Associate Superintendent, presented the report to the Board, highlighting the daily efforts and intention of school staff and all division employees to put students first.

Barber emphasized the division's response while acknowledging the growing complexity in classrooms across the province. To view the report, click HERE.

The division has a total of 12 schools in neighbouring communities, including Olds, Mountain View County, Didsbury, Crossfield and Carstairs.
