The Saskatchewan Roughriders have checked off a major item on their offseason shopping list.
On Friday, the football club announced a one-year contract extension for quarterback Trevor Harris.
The 38-year-old will return to the green and white for a third campaign in 2025 and is in position to resume his role as the team’s starting quarterback.
In 2024, despite missing six games, Harris was named a Western Division All-Star despite being sidelined for six games with a knee injury. He ended the season with 3,264 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Harris led the Roughriders to a second-place finish in the Western Division and a playoff victory against the BC Lions.
Originally signing with the Roughriders in 2023, the Ohio product was limited to five games after suffering a knee injury that ended his initial season with the Roughriders.
Prior to joining Saskatchewan, Harris spent time with Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton and Montreal. He won a pair of Grey Cups as a backup quarterback with the Argonauts (2012) and Redblacks (2016).
Harris was slated to become a free agent in February.
