The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings came away from North Battlefords with just two points after they fell 9-3 in the second game of the weekend Saturday night. The North Stars would take advantage of the power play, scoring on three of their ten man-advantages, en route to the victory.
Anthony Campbell opened up the scoring for the North Stars 2:49 into the game with a power play goal, but then the Red Wings gained some momentum.
It all started with Ryder Rommelaere’s first goal as a Red Wing at 8:16. His tally was assisted by Max Chakrabarti. Then with 6:30 to play in the first, Liam Fitzgerald scored his ninth of the year, with Simon Martin and Lucas Schmid assisting, to make it 2-1 Weyburn. Just 45 seconds later Ethan Dekay potted his 15th of the year, with Jerome Maharaj and Jaxson Ruthven assisting, putting Weyburn up 3-1.
Then, the North Stars would take over. Elijah Anderson and Campbell would score before the end of the period to make it 3-3. In the second, Colton Getzlaff and Jace Rask scored to put the North Stars up 5-3. Andreson, Rylan William, Jordan Grill, and Nikita Ivaschenko would add on in the third period.
The Red Wings will look to bounce back when they head back onto the road Tuesday night. They will be off to Melville to play the Millionaires in a game that was originally postponed in late November due to highway conditions.
