SaskEnergy’s Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP) for furnaces is open for applications until January 3, 2025.
“TAP helps income-qualified homeowners maintain their natural gas furnaces for free,” explained Jodi Woollam, spokesperson with SaskEnergy.
Annual furnace maintenance and replacing filters is a good way to reduce carbon monoxide risks and keep warm air successfully flowing as the mercury falls.
“To benefit from this program, customers must be living in a 25 km radius of one of our SaskEnergy network members communities. There are 45 of these communities in Saskatchewan, and Moose Jaw is one of them.”
To qualify for the program, a gross household income must be under $68,000 and a homeowner cannot participate if they received services under TAP between June 2023 and February 2024.
Renters and rental properties are also not eligible to participate in the program.
Those in the program receive:
-
A free network home heating tune-up
-
A carbon monoxide alarm
-
2 standard furnace filters
-
Up to $200 in furnace repairs
Anyone who successfully signs up for the program has to redeem their certificate by the end of March 2025.
Last year, over 1,000 customers took part in the Tune-Up Assistance Program, with $250,000 in free services and products between 2023-2024.
In Moose Jaw, 630 residents have benefited from the program since its 2017 launch.
