Andrew Falle appeared in Kindersley Provincial Court on Tuesday, December 10, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from a motor vehicle incident earlier this year. The charges include dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, impaired driving, driving while suspended, and escaping lawful custody.

The case relates to an incident on April 21, 2024, at approximately 9:07 p.m. when a truck struck a sign in the Kindersley Wholesale parking lot. Emergency crews arrived to find a male passenger, later identified as Brandon Cooper, with serious injuries, including a broken femur, pelvis, and severe head trauma. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Falle was identified as the driver through documents found in the truck and turned himself in to RCMP shortly afterward. He was taken to Kindersley Hospital for a medical evaluation but escaped custody by leaving through a second-story window. Falle later returned to police custody the following day, expressing remorse for his actions.

Brandon Cooper, a friend and coworker of Falle, was uncooperative with prosecutors and did not consent to the release of his medical records, which impacted the case proceedings.

Sentencing and Remorse

Falle expressed deep remorse for his actions in a letter presented to the court, stating his regret and acknowledging the potential consequences of the accident. He highlighted his commitment to self-improvement, citing his participation in Alcoholics Anonymous and his desire to become a better person for his family. The court noted his visible emotion as the letter was read aloud.

The court sentenced Falle to:

  • 18 months of a community-based sentence
  • 1 year of probation
  • A 3-year driving prohibition
  • A $200 fine
  • A $400 victim surcharge

As part of his sentence, Falle is subject to a curfew and must abstain from drugs and alcohol. He is also prohibited from entering establishments where alcohol is sold.

The judge stated Falle was lucky that the injuries to his passenger were not more serious.
