A pair of Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings players earned some honours for their performances last week.
Forward Ethan Dekay, who is committed to Michigan Tech for next season, was named the SJHL’s Forward of the Week. Over the course of three games, he racked up six points, with one goal and five assists. So far this season, Dekay has 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points. He is the top point-getter for the Red Wings and has the third-most points in the SJHL.
The other player to receive honours was goaltender Angelo Zol. He played two games last week and won both of them. He stopped 38 of 42 shots faced against Melville last Tuesday and followed it up with a 33-save shutout against the Kindersley Klippers Friday. So far this season, Zol has a GAA of 2.72, and his save percentage of .926 is tops in the league.
The Red Wings will look to bounce back from Saturday’s loss to the Klippers tonight. They will be hosting the Yorkton Terriers in Assiniboia. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. You can catch all the action on Great Plains Ford Red Wing Radio Country 106.7. Dylan Fiessel will have the call, starting with the pregame show at 7:15 p.m.
