Paramedics with Heart were set up in front of Wholesale Club on Thursday, December 19th with the goal of filling the back of their ambulance with food for the Salvation Army.
“We’ve been doing this for eight years now,” said EMS member Joel Rogers. “We were just looking for a way to help the community and we understand that sometimes people need help, need a little extra food, especially around the holidays, around Christmas dinners. So we were just looking for a way to do that. I believe several of our staff just discussed it and it just came about. It was initially done by Weyburn EMS and now it’s Weyburn Paramedics with Heart, which is a charity organization through the Weyburn EMS station.”
This year the “Pack the Back” fundraiser brought in 1,290 pounds of food for the food bank.
