The SJHL announced the coaching staff for the upcoming SJHL/MJHL Showcase, which is scheduled to be held in Winnipeg later this month.
Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings head coach Cody Mapes has been named one of the three bench bosses for the tournament, which will be held on January 28th and 29th. It has not been announced at this time which of the three SJHL teams Mapes will be coaching.
The other two coaches for the SJHL are Melfort’s Trevor Blevins and Emery Olauson of the Yorkton Terriers. The MJHL teams will be coached by Eric Labrosse of the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, Paul Dyck of the Steinbach Pistons, and Tyson Ramsay of the Virden Oil Capitals.
The SJHL/MJHL Showcase is an annual six-game event that features three teams from the SJHL and three from Manitoba. The 60 players from each league are split into two teams of players aged 20 and under and one team of players aged 18 and under.
This year’s Showcase will be the sixth, with the SJHL having won 20 of the 30 games previously played. They have also outscored Manitoba 119 to 88 over the course of the 30 games.
