Airdrie bowler Abrielle Noble will be representing Alberta at a national competition.
Last month, the 12-year-old bowler won provincials at Chinook Bowladrome in Calgary. She competed against 36 other girls to win the Junior Girls Singles championship.
She talked about what helped her get through and manage her nerves.
"The pressure was immense, so to manage the stress, my parents chose not to let me see my standings during the games to keep me focused and prevent discouragement. While this approach made me anxious, their support was invaluable. They helped keep my spirits high, and I don’t think I could have achieved what I did without them," she wrote to DiscoverAirdrie.
The national competition will be held in Edmonton at the beginning of May.
"Nationals rotate host provinces each year, so it’s exciting that it will be close to home. I am thrilled for this new experience, not just for the competition but also for the opportunity to meet new people and create lasting memories."
Her father Rob Noble was proud of how she performed at provincials and is excited to see what she will do at nationals.
"It was awesome to watch her compete and make friends while she was there, excited to see what happens next."
She finished off by talking about what bowling means to her.
"Bowling has always been about more than just the scores for me; it’s about the friendships and moments that come along with it. Regardless of the results, I am looking forward to an unforgettable experience at nationals."
Noble bowls out of Shamrock Lanes here in Airdrie.
