Saturday night will mark an important date for the Verba Ukrainian Dance Club in Wakaw.
They will be performing at the Rec Center as a part of the Ukrainian New Year celebrations.
President Jasmine Draude the club will be performing along with a group from Saskatoon. The evening will include a meal, following the Ukranian dance performances, there will be an open dance with the Polka Dots. Raffle and door prizes will also be handed out during the evening.
The Malanka celebrations are a highlight on the schedule for the Verba Ukrainian Dance Club. This year there are 18 performers in the club, ranging from 3-12 years old. The tiny tot group is for performers 3-4 years old, a beginner group, an intermediate category and a junior group. Since the beginning of September, the group has been practicing once a week.
Following Saturday’s performance, the Verba Ukrainian Dance Club will head to a couple of different competitions in Saskatoon and North Battleford. The club will also hold a recital in April to cap off the year.
