A fresh batch of snow should be arriving in Humboldt on Friday.

A clipper system in Northern Alberta will be making its way into Saskatchewan and will bring precipitation to the province.

Chris Stammers, Meteorologist Environment Canada says some light snow will begin to fall in Humboldt in the afternoon, but the significant snow activity will occur during the evening, where we could 2-4 cm in total.

Temperatures are expected to remain mild on Friday with a high of –5° but are expected to drop on Saturday afternoon to around –17°.

On Saturday, a north wind is expected to pick up, with speeds gusting between 30-50 km/h, which may cause some blowing snow on local highways. If you’re planning on travelling on Saturday, you’re recommended to check the Highway Hotline and updated forecasts for the latest conditions.

The clipper system that is moving in should affect the entire province Stammers explains. He says northern Saskatchewan will see most of the snowfall, while southern Saskatchewan will also see precipitation with the system. He added the western area could see some freezing rain on Friday morning.

With the clipper system, cold temperatures will likely remain for a couple of days, with daytime highs around –20° on Sunday and Monday. Stammers says while it will be cold, he isn’t expecting the extreme cold temperatures that we’ve seen on a number of occasions this winter.
