Chinook's Edge School Division, the school district just north of Rocky View Schools Division, approved the 2025-26 school calendar, received the first quarter financial report and received a technology report.

The Board reviewed Chinook’s Edge's first-quarter financial report and evaluated the segment of the budget allocated to its operations. All revenues and expenditures align with the projections established earlier this year.

The trustees have authorized the student attendance schedule for the 2025–2026 academic year. After consulting with staff and families, the division and board decide which calendar items to include.

In the technology report, these were the highlights provided by Jason Drent, Associate Superintendent of Learning Services:

  • The division is preparing for Provincial Achievement Testing, which will move online next school year. It is conducting field testing and has been working on implementing the right technology.
  • Chinook’s Edge has received a very good rating on its Cyber Insurance controls and is considered a provincial leader. The division continues to see success in educating staff on cybersecurity threats.
  • The division is establishing a new firewall in the spring which will further increase the robustness of the division’s security.
  • Chinook’s Edge is working to support teachers with introductions to Artificial Intelligence in their classrooms. Efforts will be made to establish a lead guidance committee related to AI use in instruction and assessment, how to guide students on AI use, and recommendations on initial support from Chinook’s Edge Policies and Administrative Procedures.

The division has a total of 12 schools in neighbouring communities, including Olds, Mountain View County, Didsbury, Crossfield and Carstairs.
