While Leland Klassen got a later start in comedy than others, he loved it the second he started.

"I actually didn't start doing comedy until after I got married. Then I had all of this material," Klassen said laughing. "I started getting on stages and loved it, so I kept doing it."

Klassen got his start when a friend called and asked him to fill in after another comedian cancelled. "We hear you're a comedian, and I didn't know what I was getting into."

He prepared and spent a lot of time rehearsing trying to work out everything in the routine before the Christmas party. "I remember doing absolutely everything and I was so nervous. I was supposed to be around an hour, and I looked at my watch but it's only been 35 minutes."

While Klassen is much more comfortable on stage now, he is excited to go across the country with the DateNight Comedy Tour and make a stop in Winkler and Winnipeg.

"It's a date night for couples to go out and they're going to laugh together and have a great time. We're also going to add a few surprises," he said.

Klassen said the audience is going to be involved in the show. "We're going to add a little couples therapy fun that we'll get people to ask questions and we'll answer them live."

Overall, Klassen wants this to be a fun night for couples to enjoy and laugh together. "We bring the laughter and the fun and they bring the laughter and the fun as well," he said.

The DateNight Tour will be in Winkler at Pathway Community Church on February 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here. The following night will have a stop in Winnipeg at Portage Avenue Church at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here
