The town of Cochrane has set up a special mailbox and community journal at the site of the fallen Grandfather Tree.
This will allow Cochrane residents to share stories and pay tribute to the iconic community landmark.
Community members have rallied together since news spread that the 300-year-old white spruce tree fell during a strong windstorm overnight Thursday.
"The Grandfather Tree's loss last week has deeply moved our community, as seen in the outpouring of stories and reflections shared across social media. For generations, this beloved landmark was a symbol of connection and natural beauty in Cochrane." stated the Town of Cochrane on Facebook.
