It's a clash of titans in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League on Tuesday night in Swift Current on Country 94.1's Local Sports Live.
The third-place Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires host the second-place Regina Pat Canadians in a battle of two of the top three teams in the league. Swift Current trails Regina by two points in the standings.
"We're just looking for a full 60 (minute effort) and playing our way, that's how we beat them earlier in the season," said Legionnaires goalie Berney Weston. "We have to come out and be all over them... it's a big two points here, take two points away from them."
Tuesday's game is the third time the two teams have met this season with approximately one month between all three games. Swift Current won at home on November 24, 6-4 and Regina won on home ice on December 21, 5-3.
"It's always tough (playing them), they're such a great team," he said. "It's a playoff matchup we're hoping to have in the later rounds of playoffs this year, we played them last year too."
Pat Canadians 14-year-old phenom Maddox Schultz enters the game leading the league in scoring with 60 points in 30 games as an underager. The Regina product is tied for the league lead with 28 goals and sits first with 32 assists.
"It's pretty cool," Weston said. "He's lighting it up this year... I've never played against him so I'm looking forward to having that matchup."
