After several days of extreme cold in Southern Manitoba, the extreme cold warning has ended for the region.
Just before 12 p.m., the warning was lifted as temperatures are expected to rise to minus 14 degrees Tuesday afternoon and feel closer to minus 26.
Extreme cold warnings are issued with wind chills at minus 40.
While the temperatures are rising a bit, Chris Stammers, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada says, "We'll have a couple of centimetres of snow. However, the winds will pick up pretty strong out of the south today for Winnipeg, looking at 40 gusting to 60 km/h. So there could be some blowing snow, certainly in open areas. So although it'll be warmer it'll still kind of feel cold out there with the wind."
Part of the Red River Valley remains in a blowing snow advisory.
