Marlene Dyck, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at The Meadows, Swift Current, SK.
Marlene Avis Dyck was born on August 17, 1946 at Moose Jaw, SK to Sam & Evelyn Pickard. She started her laboratory technician training at Providence Hospital, Moose Jaw, SK and completed her training in Saskatoon, SK. In 1970, Marlene moved to Calgary, AB where she started her career as a blood bank lab tech at the Foothills Hospital. She continued her career at the Calgary General Hospital until it was demolished and then transferred to Peter Lougheed Hospital. Marlene then transferred back to the Foothills Hospital.
Marlene enjoyed going to the Calgary Stampede where in 1974 she met Ron and they were married in November of that same year. Another one of her passions was music. Marlene & Ron went to numerous concerts, both Country and Rock & Roll. They also enjoyed camping trips whenever possible. In 2006 Marlene & Ron moved to Swift Current, SK where she became a Red Hatter, and as such they regularly sang for seniors at the Prairie Pioneer Lodge as well as at a few other Senior Lodges.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald E. Dyck; her two sisters, Cheryl (Jim) Anderson and Kathy Kilkenny.
A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held in August of 2025.
