Down three midway through the second period, the Winkler Flyers refused to quit, storming back to tie the game but couldn't complete the comeback as they lost to the Neepawa Titans 4-3 in overtime.
Things couldn't have started much worse for the Flyers as the Titans scored 21 seconds into the game and then again just over two minutes after that to take a 2-0 lead.
Frustrated, Kam Thomas tried to spark his team as he dropped the gloves with a Titans forward. Both were given 5-minutes for fighting and game misconducts.
The game stayed 2-0 through the rest of the first period. Neepawa held an edge in shots 12-10.
In the second, the Titans scored again to extend the lead to 3-0.
Cue the Flyers powerful offence.
Isaiah Peters started the comeback by scoring his 6th of the season with the lone assist going to Brady Craik.
A power play would produce another goal less than three minutes later.
Blake Matheson was credited with his 8th of the year from Nick McKee and Andrew Morton, making it 3-2.
The period would come to an end with Neepawa holding on to a 3-2 lead. They once again outshot the Flyers 12-10.
In the third, the Flyers took the game over.
Owning the puck and giving the Titans all they could handle, McKee managed to tie the game with his 18th goal of the year. Max Lavoie and Liam Carlone picked up the helpers.
The 3-3 score held despite the Flyers outshooting the Titans 19-2 in the final 20 minutes of play.
It looked as though the game was headed to shootout, that was until the Titans managed to sneak out the win with 40 seconds remaining in the extra frame.
Leif Ekblad finished the night with 25 saves.
Flyers power play finished 1-3 while the penalty kill was 2-2.
Winkler's 12-game winning streak has come to an end but the team has collected at least a point in 13-straight games.
The Flyers remain atop the MJHL despite being tied with 59 points. They've played two less games then the team they're tied with.
