The Mohawks against the Delisle under temporary lights at Glenn Hall Park

Glenn Hall Park could soon be shining bright at night-time for its sporting events.

A local group led by the Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks football team has begun exploring the possibility of adding lights to Glenn Hall Park.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, Leisure Services Director Mike Ulriksen reported the group has approached the city about making the lighting project an official donation receipt project from the City of Humboldt.

The request was granted by the City Council. With the approval, the group will begin fundraising efforts for the lights.

Ulriksen added that while council approved making the lighting project an official donation receipt project for 2025, the City of Humboldt has not committed any money along with a timeline for the project’s possible completion.

He noted the group has only recently begun to exam the possibility of adding lights and noted they spoke to Wynyard, who added permanent lights at their football field last year.

Watrous also added lights to their football field in 2024 and shifted their regular games to begin in the evening to allow more spectators to watch the games.
