In the first day of action in the MJHL-SJHL Showcase in Winnipeg, the Saskatchewan side got the upper hand over their Manitoba counterparts taking two of the three games. 

In the first matchup, Team SJHL Gold defeated Team MJHL Red 5-2. The Weyburn Red Wings played a huge role in the victory, Jerome Maharaj, Jaxson Ruthven, and Ethan Dekay combined for six points and goaltender Angelo Zol made 27 saves.  

The Humboldt Broncos contributed to the Team SJHL White 9-4 win over Team MJHL Black. Jacob Strizzi led the way with a pair of goals, Kye Benoche also scored in the victory.  

Keenan Ingram from the Yorkton Terriers, Zac Somers from the Melfort Mustangs also scored a pair of goals.  

Melfort’s Ashton Hutchinson and Reilley Kotai rounded out the scoring.  

The final game of the day saw the U18 teams face off, with Team MJHL White defeating Team SJHL Blue 3-2.  

Notre Dame’s Neka Jean and Kindersley’s Rylan Wieler were the goal scorers for the SJHL. Humboldt’s Connor Miller is a member of the SJHL’s U18 team.  

The showcase will finish off today with three games.

Team SJHL White vs Team MJHL Red 2:00 pm 

Team SJHL Blue vs Team MJHL White. 5:00 pm
