The following is the RCMP report to January 21st, 2025. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.
- 35 traffic violations
- 9 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)
- 16 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)
- 10 crimes against property
- 10 other criminal code
- 6 crimes against person
- 7 traffic accidents
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks. RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks. You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.
Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.
Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.
Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.
YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS
Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.
January 1, 2025
Police assisted with a call under the mental health act in Killarney.
Police received a report of disobeying a court order in Killarney. Police attended and spoke with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Police responded to a call under the 911 act in Ninette. Police assisted and the matter was concluded.
January 2, 2025
Police responded to a call for a vehicle that did not stop at the border when entering Canada. Police were not able to locate the vehicle however a license plate was provided, and the matter is under investigation.
January 3, 2025
Police received a call under the motor vehicle act in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin for a stranded motorist. The person was able to contact a tow truck, and police were not required.
While patrolling in Boissevain police initiated a traffic stop. A roadside screening device was given to the driver which resulted in a Warning. An immediate roadside suspension was given to the driver prohibiting driving for 3 days and the vehicle was towed.
January 4, 2025
Complaint of harassment in Deloraine, MB. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Complaint of possible disobey court order in Killarney, MB. Police investigated and was unfounded.
Complaint of Theft Under $5000.00 in Killarney, MB. Investigated and concluded.
Police attended a call under the mental health act in Deloraine.
Police attended a call under the mental health act in Waskada.
January 5, 2025
Assault with weapon complaint in Killarney, MB. Police and EMS attended. No crime was committed, and the matter was unfounded.
January 6, 2025
Breach of Peace/Disturbance complaint in Killarney, MB. Police investigated and no charges were laid.
Driving complaint received in Killarney, MB. Patrols were made. The matter was concluded.
January 7, 2025
Complaint of lost property in Killarney, MB. Reported to police for information purposes.
January 8, 2025
Police attended a call under the mental health act in Ninette.
Driving complaint in the RM of Grassland, MB. Patrols were made however the vehicle was not located.
January 10, 2025
Theft complaint in Boissevain, MB. The matter is under investigation.
Mischief/ Damage to Property complaint in Hartney, MB. Information was provided to police however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
January 11, 2025
Assault with Weapon call in Killarney, MB. Police attended and investigated. A male was arrested and released on a release order with conditions and will appear in court at a later date.
Disturbing the Peace complaint in Killarney, MB. Police attended and investigated, and the matter was concluded.
Assault complaint in Killarney, MB. Police attended and a male was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
Theft of vehicle reported in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester, MB. The vehicle was located however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Call for a suspicious person in Boissevain. Police spoke with parties involved and the matter was concluded.
Report of failure to comply with court order in Killarney, MB. Police attended and the matter was concluded without charges.

Report of another failure to comply in Killarney. Police spoke with the parties involved. Everyone was accounted for and no charges were laid.
January 14, 2025
Break and enter reported in the RM of Grassland. Police attended and investigated. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Abandoned vehicle reported in the RM of Grassland. Police attended and placed tape on the vehicle.
January 15, 2025
Break and enter call in Boissevain, MB. Police attended and spoke with the parties involved. No break and enter had taken place and the matter was concluded.
Possible impaired operation complaint in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton, MB. Patrols were made but the vehicle was not located.
Fraud complaint in Killarney, MB. The complainant was contacted by someone claiming to be with amazon stating there was fraudulent activity on their account. The caller was directed to attend their bank to withdraw money. No money was lost. Complainant was reporting for information purposes only.
Traffic collision in Killarney, MB. No injuries. Tow truck and traffic control required.
January 16, 2025
Traffic collision reported in the RM of Argyle. A vehicle had rolled onto its roof in the ditch. No injuries and nothing suspicious.
January 17, 2025
Multiple traffic collisions throughout the Turtle Mountain Area. All highways were closed for multiple hours. Once weather conditions and visibility returned, highways were re-opened.
Report under the family law act in Ninette. Police followed up with the complainant and provided advise as the situation was not a police matter.
January 18, 2025
Police conducted a traffic stop in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. A male was arrested and remanded into custody for driving while prohibited and breaching his conditional sentence order.
January 19, 2025
Wellbeing check requested in Boissevain. All parties located safe.
January 20, 2025
Report of a fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Reporting for information purposes as the bank was looking into the matter.
Report of another fraud in Killarney. The complainant transferred money believing they were paying for a damage deposit on a house rental. The caller then asked for more money and the fraud was reported.
Call for mischief in Killarney. Members attended and spoke to the parties involved. The parties were separated, and the matter was concluded without charges.

Killarney and District Restorative Justice also reports the following in 2024:
10 assault charges referred to restorative justice. 5 have been successfully mediated, 2 are still ongoing, and 3 returned to court for non-compliance.
1 theft under $5000 charge was successfully mediated.
2 charges of mischief with damage under $5000. Both were referred back to court for non-compliance.

It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. Due to the many reports of vehicle thefts, the public is reminded to secure parked and unattended vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in plain view.
