Nickle Lake Regional Park announced they’ll be opening up registration and online bookings for their temporary camping spots for the 2025 camping year on Monday, February 3rd. This online booking allows people to plan their summer camping adventure and book holidays even with winter in full effect. Darren Wheeler, park manager with Nickle Lake Regional Park, is excited for the bookings to open and for the 2025 summer.

“Our online booking opens on February 3rd, and you know we're looking forward to a busy few weeks there to get started with. I know in the past, February's been really busy with looking for the summer. We're seeing that year-over-year growth and you know, we're pretty well full from the pretty beginning of July right till the end of August. We're mostly maxed out and the online booking really helps us with that and makes sure everybody can get their spot when they need it.”

Nickle Lake Regional Park had a busy 2024 year. With more and more campers coming out and taking advantage of all that a Canadian summer has to offer, they’ve needed to keep up with repairs and the improvements to the park to make it more accessible and improved for their residents. Wheeler exclaims the constant need for improvements and how they will positively impact Nickle Lake including removing an old bathroom.

“We've removed the old beach bathroom. It was removed at the end of October and now construction of the new facility is to start here anytime. We'll be starting here in early February, building a new washroom with more washrooms and showers for men and women. Going along with that, we're also going to be starting construction of our new canteen as well. Looking at installing the sports court to offer pickleball, basketball, volleyball, street hockey. If they want to play some street hockey, we're hoping to have that already going in early July and staring construction of 65 new sites.”

With that many construction projects either on the go, or in the future, it won’t be long until Nickle Lake Regional Park looks much different and improved from years past. With new washrooms, new sporting facilities, new canteen and new campgrounds in the works, it’s shaping up to be an exciting year for campers looking to enjoy the great outdoors.
