With the regular season now finished in the Long Lake Hockey League, the first-round playoff matchups are settled.
Third place of the standings went down to the wire, in the final regular season game, the Leroy Braves defeated the Wadena Wildcats 4-2. With the victory, the Braves leapfrogged both the Wildcats and the Drake Canucks to grab third place.
Playoffs will begin this weekend as the Wynyard Monarchs meet the Lanigan Pirates in one series, Leroy will battle the Watrous Winterhawks, and Drake takes on Wadena.
Each matchup is a best of three of series.
Game one between Wynyard and Lanigan is Saturday (Feb.1) in Wynyard at 7:30, game two will be Saturday, February 8 in Lanigan at 8:00. If necessary, game three will be on Monday, February 10 in Wynyard at 8:30.
The Leroy and Watrous series will begin Sunday (Feb.2) in Leroy at 3:30. Game two is in Watrous on Thursday, February 6th and if necessary, game three will be on Saturday, February 8th at 7:00 in Leroy.
The series between the Drake and Wadena begins on Saturday (Feb.1) at 7:00 in Drake. Game two goes Monday night (Feb.3) at 6:00 and if necessary, game three is Wednesday (Feb.5) at 8:00 in Drake.
The Foam Lake Flyers will get a first-round bye since they finished first place in the league standings.
