The Town of Crossfield is currently creating a Crossfield E-Gov Portal. According to the town, this will connect residents with their municipal accounts anytime, anywhere.
Russ Nash, Director of Community and Protective Services for the town, wrote to DiscoverAirdrie to share that there are two different portal options.
"The first portal option is Private and Secure Access where registration and login is required. Once logged in, this will allow residents, property owners, and accounts receivable customers to access their utility, tax, and accounts receivable records, as well as any animal and business licenses assigned to your account. Residents can also view and print current or past bills and make utility, tax and animal/business license payments securely with Visa or Mastercard.
"The second portal option is Public Access where no registration is required. This portal is available to the general public, including realtors and lawyers. This option allows users to search property details (e.g., roll number, street address, legal description, zoning, lot size, and LINC number), view assessed property values in Crossfield (as governed by the Municipal Government Act, Section 300(1)), and search for lost pets (only if the owner has opted in), including the dog's breed, dog name, owner’s first name, and contact number."
With this new portal coming into play sooner rather than later, he did note that a license renewal letter was recently sent to registered dog owners that included a notification about this system and that dog owners could opt out by informing the town via email.
"Following feedback received from dog owners, the Town recognizes that this needs to shift to an opt-in model moving forward."
He also shared that the town can confirm that the Animal Licensing program has not been activated yet, and no information will be shared without the pet owner's prior consent.
"This service is common in many Alberta municipalities, and we believe the change to the Opt-in model for the online dog licensing service will give residents control of their information that is online while allowing pets to be reunited with their owners faster."
The administration is continuing to do background work on the portal and it will be live in the coming months.
"Residents and businesses will also have enhanced and efficient self-serve options for accessing their municipal accounts without having to call or visit the Town Office."
