2025 is just barely over a month old and Saskatchewan has seen already seen a year's worth of blowing snow.
But it appears the trend will continue. Beginning on Tuesday night, a snowfall is expected to begin with the Humboldt area expecting between 2-4 cm.
The snowfall will continue Wednesday, with an additional 5-10 cm expected before tapering off later in the evening.
Danielle Desjardins with Environment and Climate Change Canada says a low-pressure system from the United States, is tracking to the north, and will be accompanied with moisture.
She notes that there won’t be heavy winds during the snowfall, but adds when the snow stops, the wind speeds will increase.
“We are going to see northernly winds pick up, about 30 km/h winds and gusting up to 50 (km/h).”
Desjardins adds, “Given with the snow that is about to come, that will essentially blow around Wednesday night into Thursday morning.”
She says the blowing snow will taper off on Thursday morning.
The cold snap will remain in Saskatchewan and Desjardins says this will last at least a week, if not more. She pointed out that the temperature will be about ten degrees below the average for this time of year throughout the next week.
More snowfall is expected south of Humboldt, areas including Regina, Estevan and Swift Current are expecting 10-15 cm of snow on Wednesday.
