With Telemiracle 49 less than a month away, Kinsmen and Kinettes in the province are busy with their final fundraising pushes.
That includes the Watrous Kinettes, who are generating funds with a series of events.
Mikela McGrath from the Watrous Kinettes says they’re holding an online auction on Facebook that begins on Thursday morning and will run until Saturday. Numerous local businesses and artists have contributed items for the auction.
She adds back in November, during the tradeshow in Watrous, they organized a 50/50 draw, which is a part of their donation for Telemiracle.
During the upcoming February break, the Kinettes will be teaming up with local businesses and the Manitou Beach Marketing Group for a winter festival. The Kinettes will be serving cookies and hot chocolate for their Kin Kindness Day, that happens during the festival.
Also, they will be hosting their 6th Annual Rock N Rye Fun Speil at the Watrous Curling Club from March 21-22.
McGrath says several members from Watrous Kinsmen Club will be on hand in Saskatoon during Telemiracle and you will be able to see most of them answering phones during the telethon.
Along with providing support provincially, McGrath added they help out locally. She notes they sometimes classrooms ask the Kinettes for resources with their art classes or reading materials.
The local daycare in Watrous is fundraising for an addition, with the Kinsmen throwing their support for that project as well.
