At their meeting on February 4, the trustees of Chinook's Edge School Board discussed the spring budget process and created tools to help newly elected trustees succeed.
The Chinook’s Edge Board of Trustees reviewed an annual report outlining the division’s preparations for the upcoming spring budgeting process.
"The division has designed its process to prioritize fairness and transparency in the way resources are allocated. The Board supports the process," stated Chinook's Edge.
The annual meeting of the Alberta School Councils Association (ASCA) will take place virtually on April 26.
"In the past, the conference has been held in person. The Board plans to support school councils who wish to attend the conference by covering the cost of registration for councils."
The Board heard an update from its ad-hoc committee, which was tasked with considering the onboarding of new trustees after the municipal election on October 20th.
"The Board wishes to develop resources to ensure individuals who are newly elected to the Board receive support to understand the work of trustees and be successful in that role."
The Board intends to invite a Penhold Town Council delegation to view the newly constructed Penhold Waskasoo Middle School campus alongside a Chinook's Edge Board delegation which is currently under construction.
The division has a total of 12 schools in neighbouring communities, including Olds, Mountain View County, Didsbury, Crossfield and Carstairs.
last week Chinook's Edge highlighted École Olds High School student Connor Sewepegaham as he is following in his father’s footsteps, using meat cutting to support himself.
According to Chinook's Edge School Division, he is excited that after applying several times, his persistence paid off, and he has been accepted into the dual credit program at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology. Sewepegaham is currently earning a Meat Cutting Certificate.
