Humboldt’s Brady Holtvogt made his lone start last week count as he was named the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) IKS Media Rookie of the Week.
Holtvogt received the start last Wednesday (Feb.5) against the Estevan Bruins. In the Broncos 4-1 victory, the local product had a near perfect night, making 28 saves. He was 5:48 away from his second shutout of the season.
This season, the 17-year-old netminder is 6-1-1 with a .919 SV% and a 2.69 GAA. Holtvogt registered a shutout in his first game with Humboldt back on October 19 against La Ronge.
There is a decent chance Holtvogt will be back in the Broncos net this weekend, with three games in a four-day span. Humboldt meets Battlefords in a home-and-home set and then will entertain the Yorkton Terriers in a special matinee Family Day matchup on Monday at 3:00.
