The Back 40’s annual 70s Show is back with a powerhouse lineup of local musicians covering some of the most iconic bands of the decade. Featuring performances from Faces for Radio, The Committee, Link & The Moustaches, and many more, the highly anticipated show is set for Friday, February 21st, at the P.W. Enns Centennial Concert Hall.

Scott Bell, representing the Back 40 committee, and a part of a number of the groups you'll see onstage, is excited about the band’s ambitious setlist this year. “I've always wanted to do a Queen set, and I think this is the first group of musicians I've played with where I was like, ‘We can do this. We’ve got the people to make it happen,’” Bell shares.

With a unique twist, the band is incorporating a horn section into their Queen covers. “Queen with horns—it’s something different. And we’ve got some cool segues between songs, little extras that I think people are really going to enjoy,” Bell adds.

The excitement of live performances

Beyond the music, the show brings together a tight-knit community of musicians who support and inspire one another. “You walk off stage, and there’s Karl, Link, Steve, or Loretta standing there, telling you how great you did. It’s an amazing feeling,” Bell says.

With artists covering The Bee Gees, Billy Joel, Eagles, Howlin' Wolf, Aerosmith, Queen, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the show promises something for everyone.

Fundraising for the Back 40 Festival

While the show is a celebration of music, it also serves a greater purpose. “This is our main fundraiser of the year,” Bell explains. “Every performer is generously donating their time because this helps fund the Back 40 Festival in June.”

With a stellar lineup, surprises in store, and all proceeds going to support local music, the 70s Show is set to be a night to remember.

Tickets are available now for the February 21st event at the P.W. Enns Centennial Concert Hall.
