A shortened bench due to illness didn't stop the Terriers from extending the win streak to six games with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Blues.

Caleb Lepitre would get Portage on the board with his tenth goal of the season. Jonah Marshall took a shot from outside the ringette line, and Lepitre would find the rebound sitting in front of the goal and slip it through the Winnipeg netminder. 1-0 Portage after the first period.

Decker Mujcin drove behind the goal and put the puck out front. It appeared to be underneath Blues goalie Samuel Couture, but the puck came free outside the crease, where Lepitre slid home his second of the night.

Just over four minutes later, a cross-ice pass from Adam Belzil to William McKay was labelled for the top shelf, putting Portage up 3-0 through 40 minutes.

The Blues scored a controversial goal in the third, as Ryan Velan found himself on his back, making it 3-1.

But Rhett Platt would add a goal only a few moments later. McKay would make a nice backhand pass to Platt in the middle of the ice, and with a forehand-backhand move, made it 4-1 Portage, where it would stay.

The Terriers had some excellent chances on the powerplay but weren't able to capitalize, while also keeping Winnipeg off the board, going 4/4 on the penalty kill.

There won't be much of a break for the Dogs, as they play three games in four days over the long weekend.

The next game will be on the road in Steinbach, with a matinee matchup. Puck drop is at 12:30 p.m.
