Provincials

In Senior ‘A’ provincials, the Drake Canucks were eliminated by the Loreburn 19ers on Saturday as Loreburn defeated Drake 6-5, winning the best of three series 2-0.  

The Wynyard Monarchs now know their opponent in the second round of provincials following a first-round bye, as they will meet the Round Lake Bears. The Bears advanced with a two-game sweep of the Balcarres Broncs. 

The Leroy Pirates begin their series with the Kyle Elks on Sunday, in Kyle after both teams received a first-round bye.   

The Lanigan Pirates are moving in the Senior ‘C’ Provincials following a two-game sweep of the Dinsmore Dynamos. On Friday, the Pirates picked up a 6-4 road victory and followed that up with a 2-0 home ice win on Sunday.  

Lanigan will face the winner of the series between the Wilkie Outlaws and Eston Ramblers. Wilkie holds a 1-0 lead with game two on Friday night in Eston.  

Also in the Senior ‘C’ Provincials, the Foam Lake Flyers have advanced after they completed a two-game sweep of the Canora Cobras. The Flyers won on home ice on Friday with a 4-2 win, followed by a 6-5 victory in Canora on Monday. Foam Lake awaits the winner of the series between the Oxbow Huskies and Assiniboia Rebels. Assiniboia leads the series 1-0, with game two on Saturday in Oxbow.  

League

The semi-final matchups are now set in the local senior hockey leagues. The series will shift from a best-of-three to best-of five series.  

In the Wheatland Hockey League, the St.Brieux/Lake Lenore Rivals were able to move on following a 6-1 win against the Kelvington Wheat Kings on Friday, with the Rivals claiming the series 2-1. They will meet the Kinistino Tigers in the next round, with the series kicking off Friday in St. Brieux.  

The Jansen Jets needed overtime on Saturday to eliminate the Hudson Bay Hunters by a score of 4-3. The Jets will meet the Tisdale Ramblers in the other semi-final matchup, which begins Friday in Tisdale.  

In the Twin Rivers Hockey League, the Allan Flames defeated the Cudworth Tricky Maroons 9-2 on Friday night, winning the series 2-1.  

The Bruno T-Birds were eliminated by the Birch Hills Blackhawks following a 6-2 loss on Friday night. Birch Hills will meet Allan in one semi-final matchup, on the other side it will be Willow Cree and Rosthern.  

Semi-final dates have been set in the Long Lake Hockey League.  

The Foam Lake Flyers will meet the Lanigan Pirates, with game one on Wednesday night in Foam Lake.  

On the other side, the Drake Canucks will meet the Watrous Winterhawks, with game one on Friday night in Drake. Game two is on Saturday in Watrous.
