A free non-denominational worship concert is coming to Winnipeg on Monday night.
Higher Ground Worship Concert is a night of worship by David Opeyemi, Come Up Higher Music, Emeka Egoegonwa, and others at Desautels Faculty of Music School of Art.
"Our mission is to bring the Gospel to the community, the students, the faculty, everyone," David Opeyemi said. "We have seen that there's a high rate of mental health challenges. We see music as a channel by which people can receive their healing. We have seen people receive healing through music, and so we're bringing this up at the University of Manitoba."
Opeyemi says it's a full team effort. "We have some Gospel artists that are going to be involved and we also have artists from our church, the Redeem Christian Church of God, and then we're working with the church choir as well. We have volunteers also to serve in this program."
When Monday comes, Opeyemi is looking forward to gathering with others to worship God. "I'm really looking forward to seeing people having a night of encounter to worship Jesus. We're also looking forward to a night of miracles, a night of signs and wonders. A night of salvation of souls as well."
He says that everyone is welcome to join the atmosphere of worship.
For those who are unable to attend in person, it will be live-streamed on YouTube here.
Higher Ground Worship Concert will be at Desautels Faculty of Music School of Art, 331 Tache Arts Complex on February 24 at 7 p.m.
