Patricia Anne (Smith) Viel September 6th, 1952- October 15th, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia, our loving Mom, cherished sister, fond sister-in-law, loved niece to many, fun cousin, adored aunt, proud grandma and excited great grandma. Predeceased by her parents Leander and Yvonne Smith and step-father Ralph Chartrand and grand-mothers Louise (Mimi) and Olivia. Wife of the late Jean-Yves Viel, mother of Roxanne (Troy) Viel, and Mitch Viel. Grandmother of Emilie (Martin), Montana, Samantha, Desiree, and Tyra, and Cash and great-grandmother to Blake. Sister to Wayne (Sharon) Smith and nephew Bryan (Jami). Many amazing family members stayed close to her as she was adored Aunt Patsy to many nieces and nephews. So many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and friends who cherish memories made while on her childhood family farm, then later while at camp.

You have taught us the importance of being kind and thoughtful to others and to always help others when you can. You have shown the value of working hard and to take the time to have fun with family and friends. You were always with us encouraging us to do our best and feeling such pride in seeing the successes of your kids and your grandkids. You were the best gingerbread maker, Halloween costume designer, pumpkin carver, blueberry picker and craft designer. You were the best storyteller, jive dancer, party planner, joke sharer, writer, poet, scrapbooker, and animal lover. You were always up for playing games, cheering on in the sports your kids and grandkids loved because you loved seeing them happy. You always took the time to send a thoughtful message to cheer up someone’s day. You were with us celebrating with us during hockey games, graduations, and birthday parties. You were the best at picking just the right card to express the love you felt for us and would “get us every time”. You are a true model valuing what is truly important, such as kindness, sharing, helping others, putting others’ needs before your own, laughter, and having fun with family and friends. We will always cherish those precious memories of celebrating and laughing together. We know you will continue watching over us and being with us. We love you.

A Celebration of Life will be held next summer.

In lieu of flowers and cards, a donation would be greatly accepted to the charity of your choice to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
