An Airdrie man plans to travel the country after winning $1 million in a WESTERN MAX draw.

Michael White said the timing of the win couldn’t be better.

"I just retired, and we were planning on buying a truck for my travel trailer to explore Canada in the spring!" he said.

White and his wife plan to travel across the country, starting with a trip to Vancouver Island with their dog. He said they also plan to share some of the winnings with family.

"My wife and I are going to take the dog and head to Vancouver Island," he said. "Then, we’ll start traveling across the country. We’re going to live the dream!"

White said he also wants to give back to the community.

"Times have been tough [in the past]," he said. "At one point, we actually had to use the food bank, so now we’d like to donate and give back to them."

White bought the winning ticket at Kimmer Country Market on Veterans Boulevard in Airdrie. His numbers—4, 6, 15, 16, 27, 44, and 49—matched one of the million-dollar prizes in the Dec. 20 draw.

White said he and his wife are still letting the news sink in.

"We are so happy," he said. "We can hardly believe this is really happening!"
