It's a rematch for the Whitemud Hockey League championship.
The defending champion Maple Creek Hawks will clash with the Gull Lake Greyhounds Saturday night to begin the best-of-five series on Magic 97's Local Sports Live powered by OMT Projects.
Hawks captain Lane Sanderson is excited for a chance at another title, but knows beating the Greyhounds two years in a row in the finals is a tall task.
"We know they're going to be a really tough team," he said. "Every year they're one of the best in the league. and up and down their roster they're one of the best. We know we're going to have to bring out best and that's what we hope to do."
Maple Creek won the season series 2-0 with a 6-4 win on December 7 and a 9-4 victory on January 27.
"We'll have to play two-way hockey, look after our own end, and stay discipline," he said. "We've been here before, we know what we have to do. If we're able to do those things, we're hoping to come out on top again."
Gull Lake swept the Cabri Bulldogs in round one and the top-ranked Leader Flyers in the second round to make it a third straight finals appearance.
While Maple Creek went the distance against the Shaunavon Badgers in round one with a 2-1 series win and erased a 2-0 series deficit with three straight wins over Eatonia last weekend.
Magic 97's Local Sports Live powered by OMT Projects broadcast will begin at 7:50 p.m. Saturday from Maple Creek.
