John "Jack" Cederlund

John (Jack) A. Cederlund

Jack passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with his daughter by his side.

He was born April 21, 1930 at home in Pinewood, Ontario.

Jack was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (November 30, 2012).

Jack is survived by his daughter Susan (Brent) of Calgary, Alberta, his sister and brother in law Betty and Walter in B.C. and their families and cousins and their families in Thunder Bay.

Jack moved with his parents to Kenora in 1935 and lived there for a few years, eventually moving to Eagle River, Ontario where his father was involved in the logging industry but his dad eventually purchased a farm where Jack was always helping out.

Jack met Evelyn in Eagle River, they dated for a while, then married on July 10, 1954 and resided in Lakeside all of their married life. Jack and Evelyn welcomed their daughter Susan into their lives on July 26, 1959 which completed their family.

In 1948 Jack started with the C.P.R. working there for roughly 5 years, then moving to the MTO where he was employed for 31 years from which he retired, following his retirement Jack started a part time position with Brown Funeral home & Cremation Centre and recently completed 30 years as well.

Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping especially at Rushing River and Longbow Lake where both he and Evelyn made lifelong friends. He also loved classic cars, owning his pride and joy a 1966 Mustang, Jack attended many cars shows in Canada and the USA, the highlight of his trips was when he made a trip to the Gulf of Mexico with his good friends Al, Les and Anna Lee Gordon.

In his later life Jack sold his Lakeside home and moved into Benedickson Court where he enjoyed both the staff and tenants.

The family would like to thank the nurses and residents at Benedickson Court for the care and compassion shown to Jack during his time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Jack's memory to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Pinecrest Home for the Aged or the Lakeside Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.

A funeral service for Jack will be held Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Baptist Church, Kenora, Ontario with Pastor David Boyle officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
