The third annual Light Up the Streets fundraiser for Central Station Community Centre proved to be an overwhelming success on Saturday, February 22nd, as the community came together to walk, raise awareness, and support those struggling with poverty and homelessness. With an initial goal set, organizers were thrilled to announce that the event surpassed expectations, raising over $85,000 for Central Station to continue offering vital support and safety to those in need.

With the temperature sitting at -2 degrees Celsius at the time of the walk, a large crowd gathered at Winkler Central Station, eager to take part in the 3 km walk through the city. The event served as both a fundraiser and a way to bring the realities of poverty to light in Winkler, encouraging conversations and inspiring action.

Participants, including families, friends, and local businesses, walked with purpose, knowing their efforts were directly impacting those in need. After the walk, everyone was welcomed back to Central Station for a hot supper, where warmth and community spirit were on full display.
