Provincials 

It was a strong start for the Leroy Braves in Provincial ‘A’ action on Sunday as they beat the Kyle Elks 7-3 to take a 1-0 lead in the best of three series. The series will move back to Leroy this weekend. Game two is Saturday night in Leroy. If a game three is needed, it will be on Sunday afternoon in Leroy. 

In the opening game of the series between the Round Lake Bears and Wynyard Monarchs, the Bears prevailed 7-6. Game two is in Wynyard on Friday night. If a game three is necessary, it will be on Sunday in Ochapowace.  

League 

The Foam Lake Flyers became the first team to advance to the finals of the Long Lake Hockey League playoffs following a three-game sweep of the Lanigan Pirates.  

On Friday night, the Flyers picked up a 6-3 road win in Lanigan and then completed the sweep with a 9-7 home-ice win on Sunday.  

Foam Lake awaits the winner of the Drake Canucks and Watrous Winterhawks series. Drake holds a 2-0 series lead following a 7-3 win on Friday, followed by a 5-3 win in Watrous on Saturday. Game 3 of the series is on Friday night in Drake.  

The semifinals began in the Wheatland Hockey League on the weekend. The St. Brieux/Lake Lenore Rivals split their first two games against the Kinistino Tigers. 

On Friday, the Rivals outlasted the Tigers 4-3 in overtime in St. Brieux, then in game two battled back with a 3-2 win in Kinistino on home-ice. Game three is on Saturday in St. Brieux 

The Jansen Jets have taken a 2-0 series lead over the Tisdale Ramblers. Jansen opened the series with a 5-3 victory in Tisdale. On Saturday in Nokomis, the Jets edged out the Ramblers 4-3.   

In the Twin Rivers Hockey League, the Willow Cree Chiefs have taken a 2-0 over the Rosthern Wheat Kings. The other semifinal features the Birch Hills Blackhawks and Allan Flames, which began on Sunday with no score to report.
