Another week, another member of the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings was named one of the SJHL’s players of the week.
Yesterday, it was announced that forward Liam Fitzgerald was the league’s Forward of the Week. This is the first time this season he has received the honour.
The St. Albert, Alberta native, who is in his second year with the Red Wings, picked up six points in two games last week. This included a four-point performance in Friday’s 7-5 loss to the Nipawin Hawks, as he scored two goals and picked up two assists.
So far this season, Fitzgerald has racked up 33 points, including 16 goals, in 42 games. Two of the goals for the 20-year-old were game-winning goals, and six were on the power play.
Fitzgerald and the Red Wings will be looking to get back into the win column on Wednesday, as they travel to Humboldt to take on the Broncos. A win for Weyburn will bump them back into first place in the Viterra Division, moving past the idle Yorkton Terriers.
