Residents at Gateway Resources in Winkler were treated to a delightful morning of storytelling as part of the celebration for “I Love to Read” month. The event brought together residents for a fun and engaging activity that emphasized the joy of reading.

A morning of beloved books

The residents enjoyed hearing a variety of stories, including Bears on Wheels, Who Would Win? Killer Whale vs. Great White Shark, and The Digging-est Dog. The atmosphere was full of laughter and excitement as the stories brought the group together.

Engaging and enjoyable stories for all

One resident, Chelsea, shared her love for Robert Munsch books, noting that they’re funny and always a hit. Carrie, another resident, expressed a fondness for books that focus on kindness, highlighting the positive impact these stories can have on their lives.

A lighthearted moment of humour

A memorable moment during the reading came from resident Chrissy, who lightened the mood with a playful message for local weatherman Chris Sumner. "Chris, your clothes are great, but guess what? You talk funny on the radio!" The room filled with laughter as Chrissy teased Sumner, calling him “like an old grandpa.”

As the event came to a close, residents shared their appreciation for the time spent together. Hildebrand promised to return next time with pirate books and treasure, bringing more excitement for future visits.
