It will be another busy weekend for local Senior hockey teams in both league and provincial playoffs.
Provincials
The Leroy Braves host the Kyle Elks in game two of their series in ‘A’ provincials on Saturday night at 8:30 after Leroy won game one in Kyle. If the Elks win game two, then the deciding game three goes Sunday afternoon in Leroy at 3:00.
On the other side of the ‘A’ bracket, the Wynyard Monarchs host the Round Lake Bears in game two of the series tonight at 8:00. Round Lake opened with a victory in Ochapowace on Sunday. Game two in Wynyard has sold out and it will be a packed barn on Friday night as the Monarchs try to force a game three, in Ochapowace on Sunday.
In the ‘C’ provincials, the Lanigan Pirates begin their semi-final series with the Wilkie Outlaws tonight in Wilkie. Game two of the series is next Friday in Lanigan.
The series in the ‘C’ provincials will see the Foam Lake Flyers begin their series on the road against the Assiniboia Rebels. Game two is next Saturday in Foam Lake.
League
The Drake Canucks will try and punch their ticket to the Long Lake Hockey League finals tonight as they host the Watrous Winterhawks in Drake at 8:00. If Watrous can pull off a victory, then game four is Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Watrous. The winner of the series will meet Foam Lake in the league finals.
In the Wheatland Hockey League, the Jansen Jets can advance to the league finals with a win over the Tisdale Ramblers tonight as the Jets lead the best of five series 2-0. If Tisdale wins tonight, game four is Saturday in Nokomis.
The St.Brieux/Lake Lenore Rivals and Kinistino Tigers series has turned into a best of three after the two teams split the first two games. Game three is Saturday night in St. Brieux at 7:00, with game four on Sunday in Kinistino.
Over in the Twin Rivers Hockey League, the Birch Hills Blackhawks lead the Allan Flames 1-0, game two is tonight in Birch Hills, with game three on Saturday in Allan.
In the West Division finals, the Willow Cree Chiefs lead the Rosthern Wheat Kings 2-0, game three is Saturday in Beardy’s.
