Another successful edition of Telemiracle is in the books.

The 49th edition wrapped up on Sunday, as Saskatchewan’s biggest telethon was able to raise $5,709,306. Including this year’s total, Telemiracle has now fundraised over $170 million since 1977.

“TeleMiracle remains rooted in Saskatchewan, and we can’t say thank you enough for the continued support of this province,” says TeleMiracle 49 Chair Terri Troupe-Logue in a press release. “TeleMiracle is a unique fundraiser that the whole province can take part in, in a meaningful and impactful way.

During the telethon, 80 performers from Saskatchewan, including the Futuristic Industries Choir from Humboldt were on stage to help generate some fundraising dollars.

All the money raised by Telemiracle will remain in the province and are granted through the Kinsmen Foundation for specialized medical and mobility equipment, assistance with medical travel, and new and innovative health care equipment. The foundation typically receives approximately 1,000 requests in a year.

Planning for next year’s Telemiracle 50 will begin soon. The event will be held in Saskatoon and will take place February 28 and March 1.
