At the age of 82, Dolly Parton's husband passed away in Nashville on March 3.
"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together," says Parton on social media in a statement. "Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."
Parton and Carl Thomas Dean got married on May 30, 1966. The two have been together her entire musical career.
"My friend Dolly lost her husband of almost 60 years today," says Zach Williams on social media. "They modeled a wonderful example of love and devotion. Join me in praying for my friend, her family, and all the people Carl Dean impacted."
Williams and Parton, now 79 years old, joined harmonies for the hit single "There Was Jesus" in 2019. They came together again in 2024 to release another single, "Looking for You."
"He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending," says Parton's social media on Monday.
Many people offered their condolences on Parton's post, including the Grand Ole Opry. Parton's first performance on the world-renowned stage in Nashville was at the young age of 13, in 1959.
"Sending you and yours all of our love, Dolly," says the Opry.
