Envision Counselling & Support Centre Inc. is seeking three new volunteer board members as it prepares for the departure of current members whose terms will end in June.
Board chair Roberta Derosier said the organization is looking for individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds to help guide its governance and long-term sustainability. In particular, Envision is seeking individuals with experience in finance, justice, and human resources.
“We try really hard to get a well-rounded board with various talent,” DeRosier said. “Right now, we're kind of looking for people who have a background in finance, justice, human resources—that sort of thing.”
Envision provides counselling and support services to individuals, families, couples, children, and youth in Southeast Saskatchewan, with locations in Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, and Oxbow. The organization also engages in community events and educational initiatives to raise awareness about abuse, violence, and mental well-being.
DeRosier said board members are involved in guiding the organization’s mission and operations but do not participate in frontline counselling work. Instead, they support Envision’s executive director and staff by ensuring the organization is well-governed and has the resources needed to continue providing services.
“It's a governance board, so we're not actually in there doing the counselling appointments,” she said. “But it’s our way of being able to support them so they can do that important work.”
Board members meet once a month, alternating between Estevan and Weyburn, with breaks in July, August, and December. Virtual participation is an option, and mileage reimbursement is available. Members can also participate in one of three committees: finance, policy, or nominations.
DeRosier, who has served on the board for five years, said the experience has been deeply rewarding.
“Our executive director and her team do such a great job,” she said. “To be able to support them in doing such incredible work in southern Saskatchewan is truly fulfilling.”
