The Horizon School Board of Education has approved the 2025-26 school year calendar.

Approval followed consultation with staff, school community councils, the Horizon Teachers’ Association, and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE Local 4799).

Some highlights include the first day of school taking place on Tuesday, September 2.

Report cards will be handed out on the final Friday in June.

The instructional time of 960 hours per year will exceed the legislated requirement, with daily instructional time at 325 minutes.

There will be four non-instructional days designated for staff development and curriculum planning, in accordance with the Local Implementation and Negotiation Committee (LINC) agreement.

In a release, Director of Education Kevin Garinger says, ““We are pleased to provide a school year calendar that supports the success of our students, staff, and school communities. We deeply appreciate the collaboration of the Horizon Teachers’ Association, CUPE, school community councils, and our staff, and thank everyone involved for their support.”
